Jacob Elordi revealed how long it took him to apply his makeup for "Frankenstein." He had to do it every day!

The "Euphoria" star recently starred in Guillermo del Toro's highly anticipated horror film "Frankenstein." Jacob Elordi, who played the monster created by the titular scientist, spoke about the grueling makeup process. To transform into the famous monster, the actor devoted every night to meticulous preparations. "I completely lost track of time," admitted the Australian.
On August 30th, the Venice International Film Festival will host the world premiere of Guillermo del Toro's latest work, the science fiction horror "Frankenstein." Netflix's adaptation of Mary Shelley's cult novel tells the story of a brilliant yet egocentric scientist who, following an experiment gone wrong, creates a monstrous creature. Oscar Isaac portrays the titular Dr. Frankenstein, and Jacob Elordi plays the monster he creates.
"Frankenstein" will be available on Netflix on November 7.
How long did it take to do the make-up for "Frankenstein"?Speaking to Variety, the 28-year-old star of the series "Euphoria" revealed that he spent as much as 10 hours a day in the makeup room while working on the production.
"The costume itself had a lot of layers. (...) When shooting a film like this, you have to be prepared to waste a lot of time," noted the BAFTA nominee.
He began meticulous preparations at 10 p.m. and finished them in the morning, just before recording individual shots.
"I stopped wearing a watch. I just waited for the car to pick me up, because that meant it was time to go. I didn't eat breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and I didn't think about my daily schedule in terms of morning, afternoon, or evening. I completely lost track of time," the actor confessed.
To believably portray the famous monster on screen, Elordi practiced his character's movements before taking the set, modeling them on the Japanese dance form called butoh . The character's distinctive speech was inspired by the throat singing technique practiced by Mongolian folk musicians.
Despite the arduous process of undergoing a daily visual transformation, the star demonstrated professionalism, for which he was praised by the film's director.
"He never once came to me to complain. I never heard him say, 'I'm tired. I'm hungry. Can we stop now?' He worked 20 hours a day, " del Toro emphasized with admiration.
Elordi sees performing in the production as a breakthrough experience.
- It changed me in a fundamental way - both in the context of acting and watching movies - revealed the actor.
